This position is located onsite in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Job Overview

Subject Matter Expert (SME) III (Warfighter Solutions Group) - Shipboard Navy Video Distribution Systems. CGVD/NMV/VIDMS/Ready Rooms Collaborative Briefing System/Video over IP / H264 / H265 Video expert familiar with HDBT, POE & Ethernet over COAX (EOC) transitional systems. SME will have experience in multimedia and audio/visual (AV) control and distribution systems design manufacture and installation projects. Will have demonstrated industry and public service leadership in C41SR systems. This position reports directly to the Warfighters Solutions Group in Chesapeake, VA.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties:

Working with NIWC, NAVAIR, and other technical codes, commercial clientele, program/project managers, and SMEs, the SMEIII will assist with the installation, planning, testing, and integration of complex audio-visual displays, various communication systems, related ancillary and computer-based systems onboard naval ships and command centers worldwide. SME III will be responsible for providing in lab and onsite integration of IT and AV products as well as video system programming. SME III will:
  • Provide WSG Project Managers and Leads day-to-day support in design, engineering & execution.
  • Support the preparation of pre-installation, test, and checkout documents of IT and video equipment components and subcomponents.
  • Support the integration, manufacture, and Installation of IT and video products equipment components and subcomponents.
  • Support equipment Configuration Management.
  • Assist in the Identification any materials incidental to the integration task not provided.
  • Assist in system testing in accordance with established test plans to ensure functional and operational compatibly with interfacing/interacting systems, subsystems, equipment, and computer programs.
  • Coordinates with managers and supervisors keeping them informed of their progress/status, maintains ability to work well with others, adheres to contract requirements, and complies with company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct system design reviews to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with government standards.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), System Operational Verification Tests (SOVT), and as-built diagrams.
  • Train junior staff and government personnel on system operation and maintenance as may be required.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of equipment integration and troubleshooting/testing, and installation - following best industry practices for infrastructure cabling and wiring within a variety of environments.
  • Reading equipment and installation drawings, tech manuals specifications, and standards.
  • Building RF, multi-pin and fiber optic, and Cat5/6 cable connectors.
  • General knowledge of wired/wireless equipment installation and basic testing methods and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of the installation of equipment racks, switches, other audio visual, and network peripherals and cabling.
  • Ability to complete work in a timely and professional manner, ensuring quality and adherence to deadlines.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative as a self-starter and actively pursuing self-education to stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, new equipment, and capabilities.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have valid driver's license with ability to provide driving records upon request.
  • Must have experience working in or around industrial environments such as shipyards and Naval/Coast Guard bases and piers.
  • Twelve (12) years of relevant field and technical experience.
  • Have exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Expertise in video routing, networked A/V systems, and integration with secure environments.
  • Eight (8) years of experience supporting government contracts.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.

Preferred:
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
  • Associate's degree in related field.
  • Trade schools, or certifications in related fields.

Working Conditions:
  • Corporate facilities, U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard vessels and Military bases, and Shipyards.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able lift 50 lbs. unassisted or 90 Lbs. assisted.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, or squat for short periods of time.
  • Must be able to climb on a ladder.
