ASRC Federal Advanced Research is currently seeking a Field Service Representative to support autonomy vehicle integrations in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Considering the state of the world today, military technical innovation is critical to defending our territories and those of our allies. The US Army is currently exploring advancements to equip ground combat forces with autonomous vehicle platforms. This effort presents a unique opportunity for civilians to participate in the research and development efforts that will shape future battlefield combat platforms.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform automotive maintenance and repair on military ground vehicles and equipment.
  • Apply trouble shooting procedures, diagnostic procedures to include wiring schematics and applied to auto electrical malfunctions at the organizational level.
  • Ability to diagnose/troubleshoot electrical issues in wiring, electrical modules and autonomy systems.
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed and safety procedures are followed.
  • Recover vehicles on an as needed basis.
  • Acquire all repair parts whenever possible without ordering through Class IX or local purchase in an effort to reduce budget.
  • Possess a well-rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training.
  • Possess ability to utilize the following equipment: Desktop PCs, ULLS, CD ROM. Fed Log. General Mechanic Tool Set, specialty tools, torque wrenches to 600 ft. lb., multi-meters, drill motors, impact wrenches, oxyacetylene welding equipment.
  • Proficient in operating Tractor Trailer Semi-Trucks, Front End Loaders and Forklifts, Light and Heavy Wheeled Vehicles to 10 tons, Track Vehicles to 56 tons, Wreckers 5-10 tons.
  • Tear down, build up and prepare vehicles for the addition of new systems on vehicle platforms. The required services include removal of legacy systems, preparation of vehicles for new systems and installation of new systems.
  • Perform preventive and special maintenance.
  • Ability to read drawings, interpret manuals, schematics and follow instructions in order to repair or modify existing systems or install new systems on vehicles.
  • Determine the sequence of operations and performs layout, fabrication, assembly, installation and testing of experimental components, assembly, subsystem and system level hardware, material, apparatus, and equipment.
  • Must be proficient at reading military cable drawings, bill of materials and performing inventory/kitting tasks.


Required Qualifications
  • Capable of standing all day and lifting 45 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel CONUS and OCONUS, 50% - 70% annually.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Secret Clearance.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, certificate from a 2-year technical school or completion of an apprenticeship program leading to Journeyman status or equivalent with a minimum of 5-7 years related experience.
