Raytheon's Air & Space Defense Systems Requirements and Capabilities (R&C) organization is seeking an Associate Director for Strategic and National Space Systems (SNSS) to lead new business growth in support of the Mission Solutions & Payloads (MSP) sub-strategic business unit. Within MSP, we develop advanced space payloads, enabling technologies, and ground systems for multi-INT ISR, missile warning / tracking / defense, Earth observation, and space protection, across all orbit regimes, for missions broadly supporting US Government (USG), commercial, and international markets. Reporting to the Director of R&C for MSP, the Associate Director will be critical to ensuring that the company continues to capitalize on rapidly evolving demands for space-based sensing capabilities by our Prime contractors and end customers, most notably the United States Space Force (USSF) and Intelligence Community (IC).
In this role, the SNSS R&C Associate Director will serve as a primary driver of market engagement and growth for the MSP business. This role carries direct responsibility for managing, cultivating, and delivering upon a multi-billion-dollar new business pipeline. The Associate Director will lead disciplined early identification, qualification, and shaping of new business opportunities, building trusted relationships across customer organizations, understanding mission needs and acquisition plans, and working with internal stakeholders to competitively position the business for success. Qualified candidates should possess strong technical, market, and business acumen, a robust professional network, and a highly self-motivated drive. Success in this role will unlock opportunities for career growth, including leadership of key customer accounts, expansion of new business portfolios, product line strategy development, and cross-market initiatives. The salary range for this role is 172,900 USD - 328,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. What You Will Do
- Lead the new business lifecycle for Strategic and National Space System sensing (payload) opportunities, overseeing all phases from inception to program startup, to support both MSP and Raytheon business commitments
- Create and implement compelling, customer-aligned win strategies that highlight Raytheon's differentiators and key value propositions
- Drive early and ongoing customer engagement to shape requirements, anticipate future needs, and influence acquisition strategies ahead of formal solicitations, maintaining key relationships throughout program execution
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with internal organizations and stakeholders across multiple levels (e.g., program managers, chief engineers, and finance) to ensure high-quality inputs and discriminating products are developed to support new business pursuits and customer engagements
- Manage applicable new business resources, including staffing, budgets; coordinate with Technical Directors on internal IRAD/CAPEX investment plans
- Create and deliver presentations and white papers to key customers and stakeholders in support of shaping strategies and broader capture plans
- Provide direct support to proposal development, including contributions to key elements of technical and management volumes, as well as competitive pricing strategies
- Brief senior leadership on new business performance metrics, resource expenditures/projections, investment needs, and pursuit execution status to ensure alignment and informed decision-making
- Support MSP Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Long-Range Planning (LRP) activities associated with key pursuits, investments, and strategy
- Work across a mixture of unclassified and classified pursuits
- Collaborate with RTX Global Government Relations (GGR) at the Federal, State/Local on Public Policy in their advocation and development of new technologies and our solutions
- Approximately 25 - 33% domestic travel

Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 12 years' experience in the space industry in either technical or programmatic roles, or an Advanced Degree and a minimum of 10 years' experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the Space market leading business development pursuits, acquisitions, and/or program cross-functional teams on individual efforts with values of at least $50M
- Demonstrated experience working for or with the U.S. Space Force, US Space Command, Space Systems Command, Space Development Agency, and/or the National Reconnaissance Office
- Experience developing and delivering white papers, proposal elements, and executive-level briefings
- Experience with USG acquisition and planning/programming processes and interface with USSF and IC customers
Qualifications We Prefer
- Master's Degree or higher in an Engineering or Business discipline
- Working knowledge of business development operations process (e.g., investments, financial planning, pipeline management) and capture management
- 15+ years of space industry work experience in technical and/or programmatic roles, with at least 5+ years of business development, program management, capture, or acquisition experience with US Government contracts with values of at least $200M
- Strong professional network across the USG and space industry, with connections to program offices, operators, and organization leadership
- Prior experience developing space payloads, ground systems, or key elements of space missions (e.g., spacecraft, subsystems, operations)
