Job Description

Duties

  • Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repair on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical, and automotive vehicles.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs and/or overhauls, as a regular and recurring duty, a variety of the mechanically complex major systems.
  • Troubleshoots equipment with a variety of mechanically complex major systems and diagnoses difficult performance problems and the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks; and using test equipment.
  • Removes and disassembles engines and complex major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems.
  • Independently performs repairs and maintenance functions with little or no supervision in remote locations.
  • Conducts readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity.
  • Performs electrical repairs on complex state of the art electrical and electronic systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Failure to complete management prescribed courses for full-time support personnel within the first year of employment or assignment, may be cause for reassignment or termination.
  • This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in the Missouri National Guard prior to the effective date of placement.

  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
Qualifications

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidate must currently be assigned to a military unit in the Missouri Army National Guard. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion).

Maximum Military Grade - CW3 (W-3) with date of rank after 19 December 2024

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience, education or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work.

WG-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must have specialized experience which demonstrates your experience in diagnosing, repairing, overhauling and modifying interconnected complex systems on a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles and equipment. Experience must also demonstrate broad knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, and repair. Experience in the use of technical manuals, and maintenance directives and publications as they relate to repair and inspection of equipment. Experience which reflects accurate use of blueprints, schematics, diagrams, etc. Experience in production control, work schedule planning, development and implementation of procedures, interpreting technical data, etc.

Education

This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
