Category III Gujarati Linguist
Location: On-Site – Location flexible
Clearance Requirement: Active TS/SCI
Salary Range: Commensurate with Experience
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly skilled Category III (CAT III) Gujarati Linguist to provide accurate translation, interpretation, transcription, linguistic analysis, and cultural expertise in support of national security missions. The ideal candidate will have advanced Gujarati and English proficiency and the ability to perform independently in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Provide Gujarati-English interpretation and translation during conversations, briefings, intelligence collection activities, and other mission-related engagements, maintaining accuracy and context under time-sensitive conditions.
• Perform real-time and non-real-time transcription and translation, including idiomatic, colloquial, and slang language, while maintaining proper syntax, grammar, and meaning.
• Conduct Document Exploitation (DOMEX) by researching, translating, and analyzing foreign-language materials to identify and report relevant intelligence information.
• Provide cultural and ethnic expertise, advising mission personnel on the significance and context of statements, conversations, documents, and situations.
• Apply appropriate technical and domain-specific terminology, including medical, scientific, engineering, and legal terminology, when required.
• Support oral reports, briefings, and public addresses while maintaining strict confidentiality and compliance with security policies and mission requirements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Active TS/SCI security clearance and ability to obtain a CI Polygraph after hire, if not already held.
• U.S. Citizenship (required for clearance eligibility)
• ILR Level 3 proficiency in both Gujarati and English.
• Ability to understand standard Gujarati, including educated native-speaker conversations, news broadcasts, radio broadcasts, oral reports, and public addresses.
• Ability to accurately communicate in Gujarati and English, including telephone conversations and time-sensitive operational environments.
• Self-motivated, disciplined, and mature professional capable of working independently with limited guidance and oversight.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Prior experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or federal government language programs.
• Proficiency with translation tools and linguistic analysis software, with experience working in secure systems and environments.
• Familiarity with domain-specific terminology, such as medical, scientific, engineering, or legal terminology, and the ability to apply it accurately in interpretation and translation.
