OPERATIONS OFFICER

Duties

• You will meet with law enforcement, security, firefighter, and support staff concerning plans, goals, and long and short term objectives within their respective divisions, branches and sections.
• You will plan for current and long-range operations based on workload trends and projected requirements.
• You will develop methods and procedures affecting overall operations of the directorate and coordinate specific tasks with Division Chiefs and supervisors.
• You will establish training programs within the agency to ensure initial training, sustainment training and training on new policies and procedures.
• You will meet with other agencies within the area to discuss problems, interagency support, future plans and needs, and exchange of information.
• You will conduct studies and develop recommendations on proposed new missions.
• You will directly supervise, plan and schedule work to be accomplished.
• You will resolve work problems presented by subordinates and recommend or implement ways to improve production/quality of work in the unit.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
• The incumbent of a "Key" position must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning and evaluating operational or training programs; applying public safety or emergency management principles; analyzing data to support organizational decisions; and advising leadership on program or operational activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
