Title: IP Architecture Subject Matter Expert IV
Location: Colorado Springs, CO or Washington, D.C
Clearance: TS/SCI with the ability to obtain and maintain a CI polygraph
Position Overview:
The IP Architecture SME serves as a senior technical authority responsible for leading the design, engineering, and optimization of complex enterprise network and information systems. This role provides expert-level technical leadership, architecture design, and program oversight for high-risk, mission-critical environments.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as technical SME and advisor to executive leadership on complex network, systems, and telecommunications architectures
• Lead design, development, and implementation of enterprise LAN/WAN, cloud, and integrated system architectures
• Provide technical direction across full system lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture design, integration, testing, and performance optimization
• Conduct trade studies and end-to-end system analyses to optimize lifecycle performance and scalability
• Identify and resolve complex hardware/software and network interface issues
• Establish and enforce architecture standards, governance, and best practices
• Coordinate with government and contract leadership to define requirements and deliver mission-aligned solutions
• Lead and supervise technical teams, including subordinate managers, ensuring high-quality deliverables
• Develop and maintain architecture documentation, specifications, and implementation plans
• Support high-risk programs as primary technical authority and consultant
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institute in technical discipline; an additional 4 years of may be substituted in lieu of a degree
• Minimum eight (8) years of directly related experience
• Deep expertise in IP networking (IPv4/IPv6, subnetting, routing, switching) and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP)
• Extensive experience designing enterprise network architectures, including scalability, high availability, and redundancy
• Proficiency with networking platforms and technologies (e.g., Cisco IOS, Juniper Junos) and security solutions (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet)
• Strong knowledge of network security architecture, segmentation, and access control policies
• Experience with network performance optimization, troubleshooting, and capacity planning
• Familiarity with hybrid cloud networking, virtual networking, and software-defined networking (SDN), including AWS and Azure environments
• Demonstrated leadership in architecture governance, technical oversight, and cross-functional team coordination
• Strong communication skills with ability to provide technical guidance and stakeholder engagement
• Must possess current DoD 8570 IAT II and CCNP (or equivalent) certifications
• Experience working in a DoD or IC environment
• Current active TS/SCI clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a CI polygraph
