Basic Requirement: This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Operating various computer equipment and application software to research queries and create reports; (2) reviewing visitor applications to determine visitor purpose; and (3) applying law enforcement or national defense data codes to interpret and decipher messages. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-05.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent GS-05.

- Receives and processes visitors annually for access to the installation's controlled, restricted, and limited areas.
- Reviews visitor applications, local forms, and/or other documentation to determine purpose of visit or work to be preformed.
- Operates and performs research queries on the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) workstation terminal(s) in accordance with (IAW) federal and state laws
- Determines the type of identification cards, building badges, or passes to be issued based on visitor application.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
