The Opportunity:
Join a mission-driven engineering team supporting PEDESTAL at Hurlburt Field, FL as a Systems/Software Engineer, where your expertise will directly impact critical national security systems. This role is fully dedicated to the PEDESTAL program, offering the unique opportunity to become the on-site technical expert embedded with the 11th SOIS, operating within a secure SCIF environment.
You'll play a vital role in keeping complex systems running smoothly driving deployments, resolving issues, maintaining compliance, and shaping the technical environment that supports an essential mission. Responsibilities:
• Serve as the 100% dedicated onsite engineer supporting the PEDESTAL system.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues to ensure reliability and continuity.
• Execute deployments, manage release activities, and maintain compliant system configurations.
• Support and refine the system environment, including coordinating changes, updates, and improvements.
• Work hands-on with DevOps technologies-especially Kubernetes, containerization, CI/CD, and automation tools.
• Collaborate closely with mission partners from within the SCIF environment at Hurlburt Field.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to provide critical support.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Active TS/SCI clearance
• IAT or IAM Level II DoD 8570 certification
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree
• Minimum 5 years of application deployment and release management experience
• More than 3 years working with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
• More than 3 years working with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, ArgoCD)
• Strong experience with microservice orchestration, especially Kubernetes
• Experience with Kustomize and Helm
• Proficiency with Linux
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible
• Experience with monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python or Bash)
• Strong understanding of modern deployment strategies (blue/green, canary)
Desired:
• Experience with advanced troubleshooting, network analysis, database administration, or PKI
• Experience with AWS cloud services
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies
• Experience with automation across scripting, pipelines, Kubernetes operators, or IaC
• AWS Cloud Practitioner
• Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional
