SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE (for positions at GS-4 or equivalent and above): Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NJ-03, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems.

1. Para-professional knowledge of the concepts, principles, and techniques or electronic, engineering, and the related knowledge of aeronautical and mechanical engineering concerned with avionics and flight simulation.
2. Expert knowledge in the design and fabrication of simulation cockpits, hardware interfaces, electrical layouts, electrical hardware, digital computer, and various data display electronic systems.
3. Knowledge of the operation and maintenance for high-end computer equipment and networks.
4. Knowledge of test function, test instrumentation, test design, coordination, and supervision, data evaluation, eport preparation, facility, and administrative aspects of flight test programs.
5. Knowledge and skill sufficient to plan, organize, direct, and conduct the maintenance, operations and checkout of unique simulators. Ability to research, analyze, interpret and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to a variety of situation and to recommend timely and economical solutions.

Ability to maintain good working relation and to provide technical leadership and project management oversight as well a communicate effectively with a broad range of personnel both orally and in writing and to use modern computer software applications in support of communications and presentations.

- Plans, conducts, evaluates, analyzes, and resolves issues critical to ground testing of new conventional and unconventional aircraft avionics or armament systems/subsystems and testing in a simulation facility.
- Designs and fabricates simulation cockpits and cockpit interface subsystems for conventional aircraft and advanced manned vehicles.
- Plans and implements new ground test procedures, data acquisition, and data reduction techniques, specifics data parameters to be recorded and formulates ground test data recording system for testing objective(s).
- Provides technical assistance to senior engineers, electronics technicians and contractor personnel in various phases of projects.
- Prepares maintenance routines and troubleshooting procedures for electronic systems, aircraft cockpit instruments, strip charts, X-Y plotters, power supplies, and other simulator equipment.
- Technically and logistically supports the operation and maintenance of high-end computer systems.

This experience must have included the use of schematic diagrams, a variety of test equipment, and the application of appropriate electronic formulas involved in such duties as testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, and instructing on electronic equipment, or similar functions.
- Experience in developing policies, standards, and procedures for maintenance, installation, or similar functions, provided the work clearly shows that the applicant applied a specialized knowledge of the theories and principles of a variety of electronic systems or equipment.
