Job Description

Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Los Angeles AFB, El Segundo, CA is seeking an Enterprise Engineering & Governance Engineer to support the Space Systems Integration Office (SSIO) (NH-0801-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent).

Description:
Are you ready to elevate your impact from a single system to the entire Space Enterprise? The Space Systems Integration Office (SSIO) is seeking a forward-thinking Enterprise Engineering and Governance Engineer to help architect the future of our nation's space domain capabilities. This is a premier developmental opportunity for an engineer looking to transition from focused System Program Office (SPO) operations to enterprise-level Systems of Systems (SoS) engineering.

In this role, you will step back from the component level to see the "big picture." You will play a pivotal role in shaping technical governance, integrating cross-cutting space architectures, and ensuring our disparate space systems operate seamlessly as a unified force. By bridging the gap between individual program execution and enterprise-wide strategic vision, you will drive the engineering excellence and interoperability required to counter emerging threats. If you are ready to expand your technical horizons, influence enterprise-level decision-making, and build the future space architecture, this is your launchpad.

Unmatched Visibility and Career Growth:
This position serves as a strategic vantage point, providing unparalleled visibility across the United States Space Force (USSF). Beyond your daily work within Space Systems Command (SSC), you will actively collaborate with diverse mission partners across the enterprise, including SpOC, STARCOM, and external national security space stakeholders. This high-level exposure is designed to help you chart your future-empowering you to identify and pursue leadership and technical opportunities not just within SSC, but across the entire space community. If you are ready to expand your technical horizons, influence enterprise-level decision-making, and build the future space architecture, this is your launchpad.

Ideal Candidate:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering or a related Science discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Experience: Foundational engineering experience within a SPO, demonstrating a solid understanding of the DoD/Space Force acquisition lifecycle, technical baselines, and standard systems engineering processes.
- Mindset & Approach: A natural problem-solver with strong analytical and logic skills. Possess a strong desire to transition from single-system engineering to SoS thinking, with the ability to conceptualize how individual nodes connect into a broader, integrated enterprise architecture.
- Technical Engineering Skills: Familiarity with technical governance frameworks, requirements generation, technical change management, and configuration management. Exposure to, or training in, Digital Engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is highly desirable but not mandatory.
- Program & Risk Management: Demonstrated risk management skills, coupled with strong organizational and time management abilities to navigate complex, cross-functional initiatives.
- Soft Skills & Leadership: Excellent communication and collaboration skills. The candidate must have diplomacy and tact to build consensus and drive alignment across competing teams, varied stakeholders, and enterprise leaders.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
