Job Description
Secret Network Engineer
Required Qualifications:
-Active Secret Clearance required (Top Secret preferred)
-Security+ certification or DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliance
-Bachelor’s degree with 4–8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 2–6 years of experience
-Strong experience with network hardware, including configuration procedures, equipment specifications, and testing methodologies
-Hands-on experience configuring, activating, testing, and troubleshooting routers and switches in diverse environments
-Solid understanding of core IT and telecommunications concepts, terminology, and foundational technologies
-Knowledge of data and voice network architecture, including multi-system transmission paths, router-to-router connectivity (military and commercial protocols), VLAN trunking, and circuit provisioning through multiplexers
-Experience with network services and technologies, including routers, load balancers, DNS, and firewalls
-Familiarity with routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF
Job Description:
This role supports end-to-end network service activation in a mission-critical environment. The Network Engineer works closely with customers, architects, and vendors to coordinate implementations, execute integration, test, and acceptance (IT&A) activities, and ensure compliance with government standards.
Key responsibilities include managing Service Orders and Technical Service Orders (TSOs), initiating and validating device configurations, and confirming customer requirements through DISN systems and databases. The engineer will design and adjust network configurations, coordinate circuit activations with commercial providers, and monitor network performance to ensure successful deployments.
This individual will also apply systems analysis techniques to define functional requirements and collaborate with government project managers and stakeholders to resolve ambiguous or incomplete information.
Compensation:
$40–$45/hour, based on experience, education, and qualifications. Conversion salary is competitive and determined upon hire.
