Description:
Waypoint’s client is seeking a Junior Systems Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Long Range Targets program office. This role supports multiple programs focused on development of next-generation reentry vehicles, rocket motors, and countermeasures that help create realistic test environments for the Nation’s missile defense systems.
The selected candidate will provide engineering analysis, requirements support, and technical coordination activities across system development efforts. This role offers an excellent opportunity for early-career engineers to gain experience supporting complex missile defense programs within a highly collaborative engineering environment.

Responsibilities:
- Provide technical and engineering analysis supporting MDA flight requirements products
- Support decomposition, integration, and verification of system requirements
- Participate in system requirements reviews and development of technical documentation
- Assist with requirements development and functional allocation across hardware, software, operator, and system components
- Conduct review and analysis of engineering designs, requirements, and program status documentation
- Coordinate multi-domain reviews of engineering artifacts supporting critical program reviews
- Support systems engineering documentation efforts to ensure specifications meet mission requirements
- Assist with configuration management and support activities within configuration-controlled environments
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support system integration and technical assessments
Required:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Active Secret clearance with ability to maintain clearance eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline
- Minimum 3+ years of relevant systems engineering or technical experience
- Ability to apply engineering rigor to solve technical and scientific problems
- Experience writing, presenting, and coordinating engineering plans, policies, procedures, and technical documentation
- Understanding of systems engineering processes, interface requirements, and requirements management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop and present clear, concise, and audience-appropriate technical presentations and documentation
- Experience reviewing systems engineering documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Experience working independently and collaboratively within engineering teams
- Experience working in configuration-controlled environments
Desired:
- Experience supporting Missile Defense Agency (MDA) programs
- Familiarity with missile defense systems, reentry vehicles, rocket motors, or countermeasure technologies
- Experience supporting technical reviews and program milestone activities
- Exposure to systems integration, requirements decomposition, and verification activities
- Experience working in DoD engineering or test environments
