Job Description
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Senior System Administrator with 8 years of experience, Top Secret SCI clearance and DoD 8140 Certification to support the mission of The US Space Force located at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado. AMERICAN SYSTEMS support includes assessing independent Local Area Networks (LANs); executing LAN collapse procedures; procuring authorized LAN equipment for network expansion or upgrades; conducting on-site surveys for new LAN locations; determining and documenting customer and technical requirements; transporting, configuring, and installing new equipment; and implementing all required services to make new locations fully operational networks

Responsibilities
- Install, configure, update, patch, troubleshoot, and maintain systems and servers in accordance with organizational policies, vendor recommendations, JSIG, and NIST 800-53 requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, system interface, and interoperability issues to ensure seamless system functionality and minimize disruptions to mission operations. Troubleshooting steps, resolution actions, and root cause analysis findings will be documented and made available to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis.
- Implement and enforce local network usage policies and procedures to protect the security, integrity, and availability of assigned systems and networks. This includes monitoring network usage for compliance and reporting suspected incidents to the ISSO and Government leadership as required.
- Proactively manage system and server resources to ensure optimal performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.
- Continuously monitor system and server resources, including CPU utilization, memory usage, disk space, availability, and performance. Establish resource utilization thresholds and generate alerts when thresholds are exceeded.
- Perform regular system maintenance, backup coordination, recovery support, and performance optimization in accordance with the local contingency plan and Government-approved maintenance windows.
- Develop, integrate, test, document, and support computer systems and supporting network infrastructure as required by the Government.
- Assist with real-time troubleshooting, anomaly resolution, system recovery, system resiliency, and enterprise hardware or network architecture/design issue resolution.
- Identify computing, networking, and infrastructure solutions to improve performance, mitigate system or component obsolescence, and reduce sustainment costs in alignment with USSF budgeting and modernization processes.
- Conduct impact analyses before implementing changes to USSF networks or systems to minimize disruptions and ensure compliance with local Configuration Control Board procedures.
- Perform vulnerability scans, assess findings, patch or remediate vulnerabilities, and support development of Plans of Action and Milestones for unresolved deficiencies.
- Conducts vulnerability scanning and remediation in accordance with JSIG and NIST 800-53, with deficiencies identified and POA&Ms built as needed.
- Apply Security Technical Implementation Guides and Security Requirements Guides to assigned systems to identify known vulnerabilities, harden systems, update security controls, and mitigate risk in accordance with JSIG and NIST standards.
- Develop and maintain System Administrator Standard Operating Procedures to ensure consistent, repeatable, and documented execution of required duties.
- Support configuration management activities, baseline documentation, audit readiness, and coordination with ISSO, ISSM, and Government leadership.
- Ensure all system administration actions are completed without negative impact to the mission.
Qualifications
- 8 - 12 years of progressive experience in system administration, server administration, enterprise IT operations, or mission system sustainment. JSIG experience is a plus.
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field such as Info Tech, Computer Science, Cybersecurity
- Current Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility
- CompTIA Security + or equivalent DoD 8140-approved cybersecurity certification. Alternative, equivalent certifications are: Cloud+, GICSP, GSEC,SSCP
- Experience administering Windows Server, Windows client systems, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, backup services, patching tools, endpoint management tools, and virtualization platforms.
- Experience installing, updating, troubleshooting, and maintaining systems and servers in secure enterprise environments.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware/software interfaces, interoperability issues, system outages, performance issues, and recurring technical problems.
- Experience monitoring system resources such as CPU, memory, disk utilization, service availability, backups, and system health.
- Experience applying STIGs, SRGs, patches, security baselines, and system hardening requirements.
- Experience supporting vulnerability scanning, remediation tracking, POA&M development, and audit preparation.
- Experience documenting SOPs, troubleshooting procedures, root cause analysis, change requests, and system baselines.
- Experience operating within formal configuration management, change control, and maintenance window processes.
- Ability to coordinate technical actions with ISSO, ISSM, network administrators, cybersecurity personnel, Government leadership, and mission stakeholders.
