This role requires a strong foundation in Navy logistics and Automated Information Systems (AIS) management, combined with a deep understanding of data operations. As a vital link between operational needs and technical execution, you will analyze business systems to support the building and sustaining of production-grade data pipelines.

As a Senior Business Systems Analyst (Logistics) and Team Lead, you will perform current state analysis of existing business systems, applications, and functions to drive enterprise data initiatives. You will serve as a liaison to other departments to manage the day-to-day execution of data projects, providing technical oversight, delegating tasks, and delivering regular upline reporting to senior leadership. By planning, eliciting, and analyzing technical requirements, you will directly support the deployment and optimization of scalable data pipelines and models. Furthermore, this role ensures the integrity, accessibility, and readiness of data for advanced analytics and real-time operational decision-making.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead data analytics efforts by serving as a liaison to other departments. Delegate tasks across the team, manage project workflows, and provide consistent upline reporting on team progress, performance, and operational milestones to senior management.
  • Plan, elicit, capture, analyze, and validate business, functional, and technical requirements to translate them into robust engineering solutions.
  • Develop business/use cases associated with data modeling (e.g., dbt, SQL) and ETL/ELT pipeline design (Databricks, Spark, ADVANA).
  • Document, analyze, and assess current business processes and underlying systems to implement data quality, validation, and governance protocols.
  • Streamline existing data pipelines, queries, and models to improve system performance.
  • Plan, facilitate, and execute system, functional, performance, and usability testing for data projects and enhancements.
  • Monitor complex datasets from diverse sources to identify trends and anomalies within Naval logistics operations.
  • Produce timely and high-quality requirements-related work products.
  • Design interactive dashboards and reports using enterprise tools (e.g., Qlik Sense, Tableau, Power BI) to deliver clear, actionable insights based on captured business needs.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Shall possess a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or related business discipline.
  • In addition to the education requirements above, must have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a combination of Navy logistics and Navy logistics AIS management.
  • As a substitute, eight (8) years of experience in a combination of Navy logistics and AIS management. Education equivalency experience is in addition to the minimum experience of the labor category.

Desired:
  • Bachelor's degree or experience in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Applied Mathematics.
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, professional services, or Navy logistics pipeline development.
  • Advanced SQL for complex transformations/query optimization. Programming in Python and/or PySpark for data wrangling and automation.
  • Data Architecture & Modeling: Proven experience designing scalable data pipelines using Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
  • Expertise in data modeling (star/snowflake schemas, Kimball, Inmon), ERDs, semantic modeling, and modern tools like dbt.
  • Platforms & Cloud: Experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or Lakeflow.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data engineering services.
  • Experience with War Data Platform (ADVANA), Maven / Palantir platforms, and Qlik Sense for data integration and delivery.
  • Experience with legacy data lakes (Hadoop, Delta Lake) and real-time streaming (Apache Kafka, Flink). Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and advanced data mining.
  • Experience utilizing CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Proven leadership ability to guide a technical team and effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
