Job Description

• Position: Systems Engineer
• Location: 9975 Federal Drive in CO or 1200 Redstone Gateway in HSV, AL
• Duration: long term, ongoing contract – we are a direct sub to the C2BMC program
• Clearance: Secret
• Program – C2BMC
Essential Functions:
This position will perform some or all of the following duties, focusing on early-phase (concept, requirements, and design) activities of the Systems-Engineering Development Lifecycle:
• Support the development of new system concepts by transforming stakeholder needs, gathered through documentation and solicitation, into easily reviewable technical approaches
• Perform requirements elicitation and decomposition using behavioral artifacts such as use cases, activity diagrams, and sequence diagrams to convey understanding of the required behaviors and the system's performance under development
• Support the development of physical and logical system models that represent the system under development, using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches and tools
• Support system interface development, as documented in Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Design Descriptions (IDDs), by converting system and interface requirements into message-level details sufficient to coordinate interface development
• Support formal and informal engineering technical reviews
• Review and critique interface documents, system requirements, verification documentation, architectural documentation, and engineering estimates. Interface with key stakeholders, including the MDA customer and working-level counterparts, as needed
• Engage in Agile development activities such as planning iterations and reporting on progress
• Work will be carried out as part of an Agile Scrum team, guided by a Team Lead who reports to the C2BMC Regional Systems Engineering Manager
• Work must be carried out in a closed area without the possibility of remote work
Basic Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in STEM Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a STEM-related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related STEM discipline with 1 year of relevant work experience
• Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
• Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering is highly preferred
• Certification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification
• Certification: Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF)
Candidates for this position will ideally meet some or all of the following preferred qualifications:
• Systems Engineer with 5+ years of experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems engineers to develop solutions covering all aspects of the Systems-Engineering Development Lifecycle
• Demonstrated experience in all responsibilities of this role
• Experience regularly interacting with the customer, specifically in eliciting customer needs and requirements
• Experience with at least one element of the Missile Defense System.
• Experience with one or more elements involved in Space Defense, Space Domain Awareness, or other Space Missions
• Experience with complex Command and Control Systems, especially those with extensive networking capabilities
• Experience performing many of the responsibilities of this position, with a particular focus on concept development and requirements decomposition
• Experience with MBSE approaches and tools (e.g., Cameo)
• Experience working on tasks where failure to achieve good results typically results in program delays and wasted expenditure of resources
• Ability to clearly and concisely communicate (written and verbal) with others, present technical content, and receive critical feedback
• Ability to support short-notice and/or urgent tasks without a loss of efficiency
