Job Title: Construction Safety Manager (SSHO)
Location: NAS Whiting Field, FL
Clearance/Access: Ability to obtain base access required
Compensation: $50–60/hour (based on experience)
Position Type: Short-term contract (demolition phase support)
Job Summary
Insight Global is seeking a Construction Safety Manager (SSHO) to support the demolition phase of a federal project at NAS Whiting Field. This individual will serve as the on-site safety lead, responsible for driving compliance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA standards while fostering a proactive, safety-first culture across all site operations. This is a hands-on role requiring experience in high-risk environments, ideally within federal or military installations. This position is a short-term contract aligned with the demolition phase of the project.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the designated Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) for the project
• Lead all site safety efforts during demolition activities, ensuring full compliance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA standards
• Conduct daily site inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments
• Develop, implement, and enforce Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA) and Accident Prevention Plans (APP)
• Facilitate daily toolbox talks, pre-task briefings, and safety meetings
• Monitor high-risk operations including structural demolition, heavy equipment usage, and confined space work
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety violations, and implement corrective actions
• Maintain accurate safety documentation, logs, and compliance reporting required for federal projects
• Act as the primary safety liaison between field teams, project leadership, and government representatives
• Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions are identified
Required Qualifications
• 3–5+ years of construction safety experience, preferably in demolition or heavy civil environments
• EM 385-1-1 certification
• Prior experience serving as an SSHO or Safety Lead on federal or military projects
• Strong working knowledge of EM 385-1-1 safety standards
• OSHA 30 certification (minimum)
• Ability to obtain and maintain base access
• Experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and root cause analysis
• Strong communication and leadership skills in a field environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working on military installations such as NAS Whiting Field
• Background supporting demolition or high-risk teardown projects
• Experience supporting USACE, NAVFAC, or other DoD projects
• First Aid/CPR certification
