Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is expanding and seeking talented Mechanical Engineers across multiple experience levels to join our team in Alexandria, VA.
In this role, you will support the planning, assessment, design review, modernization, sustainment, and operation of mission-critical facilities, building infrastructure, HVAC systems, and utility systems for defense and intelligence customers in both CONUS and OCONUS environments. This is an opportunity to work on impactful projects that support secure, high-reliability operations around the world.

- HVAC & Infrastructure Reliability: Improve the performance, resilience, and lifecycle readiness of HVAC systems, central utility systems, and facility mechanical infrastructure in secure, high-reliability environments.
- Facility Modernization & Sustainment: Support facility upgrades, recapitalization efforts, commissioning, construction activities, and long-term sustainment planning to ensure infrastructure remains operational, efficient, and mission-ready.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical, electrical, structural, construction, power, and operations teams to develop practical engineering solutions for complex facility and infrastructure challenges.
- CONUS & OCONUS Mission Support: Contribute to engineering efforts that support domestic and overseas mission requirements, helping deliver dependable infrastructure solutions in secure and operationally sensitive environments.

Essential Job Responsibilities
- Provide facilities engineering support for the design, assessment, modernization, and sustainment of mission-critical facilities
- Perform mechanical systems analysis, engineering studies, feasibility reviews, and design evaluations for facility infrastructure, including HVAC, Chilled Water, ventilation, and Building Automation.
- Develop, review, and validate engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, design packages, and related technical documentation.
- Support installation, construction oversight, startup, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and sustainment of facility systems.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for engineering procedures, assessments, commissioning, test results, and as-built conditions.
- Support lifecycle planning, asset sustainment, and facility modernization strategies for mission-critical mechanical systems in CONUS and OCONUS environments.
Minimum Qualifications
Level Requirements:
- Lead Mechanical Engineer (Engineer Mechanical 4): 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field.
- Senior Mechanical Engineer (Engineer Mechanical 3): 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
- Mechanical Engineer (Engineer Mechanical 2): 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or 0 years experience with Masters in related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience working as a Mechanical Engineer in a commercial environment.
Clearance Requirement:
- Active US TS/SCI clearance required.
Technical Requirements:
- Experience with mechanical CAD tools.
- Strong documentation skills (2D engineering drawings, PowerPoint, Visio, Adobe suite).
- Hands-on assembly or construction experience.
- Creativity and comfort with open-ended, precedent-free problem solving.
- Ability to read, review, and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, design packages, scopes of work, technical reports, and as-built documentation.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience in mechanical engineering, facilities engineering, HVAC systems, building mechanical systems, utility infrastructure, building infrastructure, or mission-critical facilities.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including ventilation, air distribution, environmental controls, chilled water systems, mechanical rooms, and related building mechanical infrastructure.
- Experience conducting or supporting site assessments, facility assessments, engineering studies, feasibility reviews, requirements development, and technical evaluations.
- Experience supporting construction oversight, installation, startup, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and sustainment of facility mechanical systems.
- Experience supporting facility upgrades, recapitalization efforts, infrastructure improvement projects, or facility modernization initiatives.
- Active CI Polygraph or Full Scope Polygraph.
