Job Description

Program Overview
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Gun and Electric Weapon Systems (E) Department has been tasked to provide engineering, technical and administrative support for engagement systems of the Gun Weapon Systems Division (E30). The Contractor shall provide engineering, technical, and administrative support for GWS engagement system programs and projects. Programs include the Gun Weapon Systems Division (E30) which includes Gun Computer System Engineering & Management (E31), Gun Mount Electrical Design & Enabling Technologies (E32), Gun & Munition Systems Development & Integration (E33), Gun Mount Mechanical Design & Analysis (E34), Gun Computer System Software Design & Development (E35), and Gun Computational Software & Control Systems (E36). This support shall be provided in the areas of System Design, Analysis, and Engineering Support; Configuration Management; Technical Writing/Editing; Test Support; and Program Management Support.

We have an immediate need for a journey-level or senior-level Systems Engineer to support the integration, architecture, and requirements management for software and hardware integrated systems.
As a Systems Engineer, duties and roles include, but are not limited to the following:
• Analyze and model the Mission Killchain from a front-end operational perspective to define the capabilities required for successful mission execution.
• Map and define the functional flow of data (e.g., track data from Aegis or similar systems) across Configuration Items (CIs) through to weapon launch (e.g., advanced projectile or missile).
• Develop and maintain system models using MBSE tools and practices to represent TDWS system architecture, requirements, and behavior.
• Perform functional and behavioral analysis for a software and hardware integrated system.
• Create and manage SysML/UML models capturing system requirements, functional behavior, and physical architectures.
• Develop and maintain the system architecture through the system's lifecycle.
• Ensure system designs meet safety, regulatory, quality, and performance requirements.
• Analyze, derive, and manage requirements for both hardware and software systems.
• Develop and maintain a Requirements Traceability and Verification Matrix (RTVM).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, and project management, to ensure successful project delivery.
• Support system integration, calibration, validation, and issue resolution.


Skillsets:
1. Experience in the definition of technical requirements and milestones.
2. Proficiency in using MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or IBM Rational Rhapsody.
3. Strong knowledge of modeling languages such as SysML and UML.
4. Experience in system modeling, requirements engineering, and system verification/validation.
5. Experience analyzing and modeling weapon system killchains and system-of-systems functional flows is highly desired.
6. Ability to work with limited oversight and to work across a cross-functional technical organization.
7. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
