Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) serving as a supervisor in a complex organization, providing recommendations based on research, interviews, and knowledge supported by law and regulations; (2) decision making under high-level, high-priority, and urgent situations; (3) coordinating resolutions of broad and difficult program and policy issues; (4) develop content for detailed correspondence, memoranda, and reports; AND (5) provide written and verbal communications delivering public announcements, presentations and briefs.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Additional information
- Manages assigned support office activities through direct supervision of Support Office Chiefs including Safety and Occupational Health, Security and Law Enforcement, Public Affairs, Internal Review, Mission Support, and other offices as directed.
- Initiates priority or special assignments based on changing conditions locally or higher echelon directives affecting existing programs, deadlines, and objectives, and maintains a continuing overview of the functions.
- Evaluates subordinate supervisors, interviews, makes final key and subordinate selections, determines training and workforce development needs, approves awards, recommends disciplinary action, approves leave and travel, and acts on personnel matters.
- Oversees short and long-range planning in conjunction with prospective changes in USACE missions and programs.
- Serves as the principal staff advisor to the DE, DDE, and DPM and provides oversight and synchronization of District support staff offices and national enterprise organization support offices.
- Consults and maintains liaison with senior District leadership and national enterprise organizations that provide legal services, information technology, human resources, and logistics activities.
