About the Job
The Cyber Systems Engineer – Cyber Tools Development will serve as a senior engineering resource responsible for architecting, deploying, and enhancing advanced cyber capabilities across a large-scale Department of Defense enterprise environment. This position supports the CITS contract for USCENTCOM and is based onsite in Tampa, Florida. The role focuses on engineering scalable endpoint security solutions, integrating cyber technologies into complex infrastructures, and developing resilient, automated capabilities that strengthen the organization’s security posture across more than 15,000 enterprise endpoints.
Responsibilities
Cyber Tool & Security Architecture Engineering
- Design, architect, and engineer advanced cyber tools and endpoint security capabilities across enterprise DoD environments.
- Lead the deployment, configuration, and sustainment of cyber tools, including:
- Trellix
- Trellix HX
- Fortra
- Application Control (Solidcore)
- Develop scalable architectures that ensure high availability, resiliency, and performance across 19+ ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) servers.
- Engineer secure endpoint solutions that support mission-critical operations and enterprise cybersecurity objectives.
Systems Integration & Advanced Engineering
- Integrate cyber tools with enterprise systems, networks, and mission applications.
- Engineer end-to-end lifecycle solutions from design and modeling through integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
- Perform advanced systems engineering activities, including logic design, I/O design, and digital systems engineering.
- Support modernization initiatives to improve cyber capability performance and operational effectiveness.
Cyber Operations Engineering & Troubleshooting
- Conduct deep-dive analysis and troubleshooting of complex endpoint security and cyber tool issues.
- Engineer permanent corrective actions using advanced diagnostic methodologies and troubleshooting techniques.
- Develop and enforce security policies, hardened endpoint baselines, and compliance configurations.
- Support vulnerability assessments, readiness events, and large-scale cyber exercises.
Automation, Scripting & Infrastructure as Code
- Build automation solutions using PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages to streamline cyber tool management and administration.
- Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Desired State Configuration (DSC), Puppet, or similar technologies.
- Enhance CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery and integration of cyber capabilities.
- Develop automated workflows to improve operational efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
Security Hardening, Resiliency & Continuity
- Engineer backup, redundancy, and disaster recovery strategies for endpoint security infrastructure.
- Develop innovative approaches to improve cyber resiliency and operational continuity.
- Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, enterprise security standards, and applicable compliance frameworks.
Documentation, Reporting & Knowledge Sharing
- Produce detailed engineering documentation, system diagrams, technical procedures, and security reports.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and specialized training to junior engineers and administrators.
- Support reporting requirements and operational briefings for leadership and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.
- 8+ years of experience in cyber engineering or endpoint security engineering.
- Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 certification.
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
- Expertise designing and engineering enterprise endpoint security solutions, including ENS, DLP, MA, RSD, PA, and Solidcore.
- Strong experience administering and troubleshooting ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO).
- Advanced understanding of cyber threats, mitigation strategies, and endpoint security best practices.
- Proficiency in PowerShell or similar scripting languages.
- Strong knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies, compliance frameworks, and enterprise security standards.
- Ability to work onsite in Tampa, Florida.
- U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience engineering endpoint security architectures for USCENTCOM or similar military networks.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management tools and methodologies.
- Experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring junior engineers.
- ITIL 4 Foundation certification.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise cyber operations within DoD environments.
