Join the BAE Systems - SMS Mission Engineering Team! As a Mission Data Processing (MDP) Algorithm Development Engineer, you develop and implement algorithms and models. Algorithms you develop are used for modeling and simulation and/or deployment on experimental and production systems. Your work is part of BAE Systems mission to provide advanced mission capabilities and prediction of performance for real-time payload systems.
The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. What You'll Do:
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Full-Time Salary Range: $59023 - $100339

What You'll Do:
- Your algorithms are used to solve a variety of C4ISR mission. These algorithms include but are not signals and image processing, geolocation, clutter suppression, target detection, state estimation, open- and closed-loop tracking, uncorrelated track determination, statistical analysis, data characterization, performance estimation, electronic protection, electronic attack, data management, natural language processing, machine learning, computer vision, tomography, target interactions, RF modeling, propagation modeling, and orbit determination.
- Develop embedded, real-time image/track processing algorithms using temporal, spatial, and/or spectral processing of radar, SAR, and EO/IR data.
- Support the architecture, design, and development of algorithms, software and hardware systems for a variety of applications including mission data processing systems for remote sensing, space situational awareness, rendezvous and proximity operations, tactical solutions, and more.
- Develop and communicate mission-level understanding to peers and customers.
- Perform system engineering and modeling & simulation for a variety of tactical and surveillance missions.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.

- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Experience with computational science and/or applying advanced math skills to engineering problems.
- Experience independently solving new algorithm challenges and generating high-quality code to develop and analyze algorithm performance.
- Experience implementing data processing algorithms in Matlab, Python, or C/C++.
- Experience generating visualizations of data using charts, graphs, and/or animations.
- The ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Power Point for communications.
- Capability to interact, and work with other engineering disciplines.
- Abilit to document algorithms and the code that you developed.
- A self-starter mindset and the ability to work both independently and on a team.
- Solid communication, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills plus an ability to lead group discussions.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Prior experience working in and with controlled, classified security environments.
- At least 2 years of prior work experience.
- Leadership experience (professional or non-professional).
- Experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Track processing and/or image processing.
- Artificial intelligence, machine learning (AI / ML), natural language processing, computer vision.
- Mission data processing (MDP) experience in overhead persistent infra-red (OPIR), space situational awareness / space domain awareness (SSA / SDA), and/or space command and control (C2).
- Data processing for remote sensing (radar, lidar, EO/IR, SAR, SIGINT) or other raw data through actionable products.
- GPU, FPGA, and/or High-Performance Computing (cluster) processing implementations;
- Initial Orbit Determination, Orbit Determination, and/or 3D trajectory estimation
- Communications signals processing including spread-spectrum techniques such as OFDM, CDMA, TDMA.
- Electronic Warfare (EW), Electronic Protect (EP), and Electronic Attack (EA).
- Control theory, state machines.
- Understanding and/or experience with implementation of code on embedded systems.
- Understanding and/or experience with spectral phenomenology.
- Containerization, container orchestration, and cloud-based processing.
- Web based data visualization.
