SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENT.
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-02/ GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes work that involves experience conducting risk assessments and following safety regulations in the execution of test and/or training events utilizing weapons and explosives related to Range Operations.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Additional information
- Ensure the integration of range safety criteria in testing and training procedures.
- Participate in conferences and scheduling meetings.
- Collaborate with test engineers and range safety officers on the planning and setup of training exercises and tests.
- Participate in the preparation and review of SOP's covering hazardous operations and range activities.
- Perform range investigations when incidents occur to determine cause(s) of incidents and their effect on government personnel and property.
- Prepare reports on conclusions of investigation(s) conducted and submits to supervisor.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires, in the performance of duties related to test and training area operations, work in extreme weather; prolonged standing and traversing terrain that is rugged and/or swampy; and exposure to high noise levels.
- As a result, the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter is required.
- This position requires the incumbent to participate in the Medical Surveillance Program per ATC REG 385-2.
- This position requires the incumbent to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station for business purposes (up to 20% of the time)
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
