Sr. Staff Audit Support Specialist
Washington, DC (Hybrid: 2-3 Days Onsite) | $30-39/hr | 6 Months
About the Role:
Join our dynamic Audit and Assurance Division as a Sr. Staff Audit Support Specialist. In this hybrid role, you will support and lead crucial internal audit activities, collaborating with cross-functional teams to safeguard organizational compliance and operational excellence. Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute compliance, financial, and operational audits following IIA and industry standards
- Analyze organizational processes to identify high-risk areas and contribute to audit procedure development
- Examine records and documentation to ensure adherence to internal control procedures
- Document audit findings, prepare concise work papers, and present results to management and audit committees
- Recommend actionable solutions for identified deficiencies and add value through operational insights
- Mentor and review the work of junior audit staff
- Assist with investigations, strategic initiatives, and special projects as assigned
- Maintain strong professional relationships across divisions to facilitate effective audits
- Participate in ongoing professional development and share knowledge with team members
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5-7 years of directly relevant audit experience
- Advanced proficiency in ACL, Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, and MS Project
- Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to travel occasionally as needed
Preferred Skills:
- CPA, CIA, or CFE certification
- Experience coaching junior auditors
- Exposure to strategic and special project support
