Duties

As an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC, WG-2604-11, you will:

This position is located in the Avionics/Electronics function of an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF), Army Aviation Flight Activity (AAFA), or Army Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD). Its purpose is to perform repair, maintenance, modification, overhaul and installation of complex electronic systems and/or a portion of a complete electronic integrated system involving work on a number of subsystems but not requiring the integration of all operable subsystems into a functional integrated system.

Qualifications

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Enlisted up to MSG eligible to apply. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full-time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must have at least 18 months experience in the KSAs listed below. Experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) and how they relate to work experience, education or training.
  • Skill to identify, isolate and repair malfunctions in complex electronic systems or individual subsystems of an electronic integrated system.
  • Knowledge of the principles of digital and analog circuits, electro-mechanical devices, solid state devices theory, digital techniques, synchro/servo operation and integrated circuit theory.
  • Skill to interpret and trace schematic, logic and wiring diagrams.
  • Skill to use a wide variety of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).
  • Knowledge of The Army Maintenance Management Systems (TAMMS) and other publications and directives.

MILITARY INCENTIVES:

Military Technicians are ineligible for military enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses. Acceptance of a Technician position over 180 days will result in suspension or termination of these military incentives.
