Job Description

Duties

  • You will conduct research and analysis of strategic counterterrorism issues for the Combating Terrorism Center (CTC).
  • Instruct classes in the CTC Terrorism Studies Program.
  • Applicants must be confident in public speaking and teaching skills.
  • Teach in the Practitioner Education Program to provide government personnel with the education and intellectual tools they need to understand and combat terrorist threats.
  • You will support the personal growth and professional development of cadets in and out of the classroom as a role model for future leaders of the Nation.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain within a year and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance and Sensitive Compartmented Information access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position may be subject to a two-year trial period.

This is a full-time term appointment in the excepted service not to exceed 13 months.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.


SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Applicants will be evaluated on the following:

1) Academic Accomplishment (Master's Degree is preferred) in Security Studies, Political Science, Public Policy, and Sociology or a closely related field;
2) Ability to research and publish in a discipline relevant to political violence;
3) Demonstrated ability to teach, communicate, advise, and mentor cadets in United States Military Academy (USMA) in and out of the classroom;
4) Ability and experience in intelligence or interagency environment working in counterterrorism field is highly preferred;
