Duties

This position is located in the Component Repair Shop of an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF). The purpose of this position is to per form Aviation Unit Maintenance (AVUM) and limited Aviation Intermediate Maintenance (AVIM) on aircraft pneudraulic systems.

Work involved in the maintenance, modification, and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems associated with aircraft. The work requires: knowledge of the physical principles governing the behavior of fluids (liquids and gases) as they pertain to hydraulic and pneumatic systems and their components; knowledge of aircraft structures and the relationship of hydraulic pneumatic systems to the structure and other aircraft systems; knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; the ability to use technical manuals and schematics and to test for and isolate malfunctions in hydraulic and pneumatic systems; and the skill to effect modifications, repairs, or maintenance required.

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is a Title 32 Technician Vacancy that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
Qualifications

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO THE FOLLOWING AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC):

Area of Consideration: This position is open to Areas 1 & 2.

Area 1: Current employees of the South Carolina Army National Guard (Tenure 1 and 2)
Area 2: Current members of the South Carolina Army National Guard
Area 3: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Army National Guard


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : Experience or training which demonstrates your knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems; and ability to use technical manuals, equipment specifications, and test calibration procedures in performing the work.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : Experience or training which provided a knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles. Experience in fabricating fuel, oil and vacuum hose lines. Experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling assembling, repairing and testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning part and examining parts. Experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedies. Experience in repairing, rebuilding and overhauling major systems of ground equipment and pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Experience in mechanical repairs using hand tools and test equipment. Experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications and publications.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES:

Eligible for NGB Non-Aviator Flying Status when designated to participate in Army Maintenance Test Flights.
