Job Description
This role supports MSC vessel maintenance by researching and tracking repair parts identified by Principal Port Engineers, screening and validating material and service order requests, and ensuring requisitions align with mission, repair, and allowance requirements. The specialist maintains inventory accuracy for assigned vessels, administers tasks, supports team training, and performs quality assurance. The position also includes developing, editing, and formatting technical documentation such as trainee guides and desk guides. A key function is interpreting maintenance items, both government‑furnished and unidentified, and determining the correct parts required to complete work orders.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of fleet sustainment logistics support for MSC, U.S. Navy, or U.S. Coast Guard
- Experience with MSC systems: SAMM, CMLS
- Proficiency with ship acquisition/sustainment databases: One Touch Supply, LogiQuest/Haystack, FedMall,
- High proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office
- Ability to interpret maintenance items and identify required parts
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance within 2-3 months of starting
- Ability to travel up to 10%
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Technical writing or training documentation experience
- Experience supporting mission‑critical maritime systems
- Familiarity with predictive maintenance or condition‑monitoring environments
- MSC shipboard engineering background (machinist mate, electrician, gas turbine electrician, engineman, LS, etc.)
- Strong understanding of maintenance + parts lifecycle
