Description:
Waypoint’s client is seeking a Software Systems Engineer to support THAAD system efforts within the Integrated Fires Mission Command (IFMC) Project Office, Air and Missile Defense (AMD) Mission Command portfolio. This role supports mission-critical software development by translating Solution Engineering Documents (SEDs) into actionable Program Engineering Documents (PEDs).

The selected candidate will work across system architecture, software engineering, and integration teams to ensure solutions are traceable, technically executable, and aligned with operational mission requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Support development of program-level features using a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach to define system behavior, performance, and acceptance criteria.


• Translate SEDs into PEDs, ensuring clear traceability from requirements to implementation.


• Develop and document engineering artifacts using JIRA and Confluence within an Agile framework.


• Assemble technical documentation and artifacts into structured Program Engineering Documents (PEDs).


• Facilitate and lead internal and formal technical reviews, including adjudication and resolution of review comments.


• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and prioritization sessions.


• Collaborate with system architects, developers, and integration teams to ensure cohesive solution delivery.


• Support system integration and verification efforts across a system-of-systems architecture.

Required:

• Active Secret clearance.


• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.


• 3–10 years of experience in systems engineering or a related discipline.


• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.


• Proficiency with MagicDraw.


• Experience with JIRA and Confluence.


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.


• Strong written and verbal communication skills.


• Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional team environments.

Desired:

• Master’s degree in Systems Engineering or related field.


• Experience supporting Army Air and Missile Defense Command and Control systems, such as IBCS, Patriot, FAAD C2, or ADAM.


• Experience integrating Command and Control systems within a System-of-Systems architecture.


• Experience supporting THAAD or similar missile defense systems.
