Job Description
Overview:
The Data Analyst will develop and maintain analytic products, dashboards, and ETL pipelines informing nuclear industrial base assessments, at-risk materials monitoring, CFIUS reviews, and emerging technology evaluations. Work is analyst-driven and directly informs senior government decision-makers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and visualizations in Power BI to support recurring and ad hoc analytic
requirements.
• Develop, automate, and document ETL processes across structured and unstructured data sources, including government systems, commercial databases, and open-source feeds.
• Conduct open-source data stream analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and indicators relevant to nuclear industrial base resilience, supply chain risk, at-risk materials, and foreign investment activity.
• Produce written analytic products, data summaries, and briefing materials supporting CFIUS case reviews, technology assessments, and related national security evaluations.
• Write and maintain scripts for data acquisition, transformation, enrichment, and analysis.
• Integrate disparate datasets into unified analytic environments; perform data quality assurance, deduplication, entity resolution, and normalization.
• Partner with government leads, subject matter experts, and fellow contractors to translate mission questions into repeatable analytic workflows.
• Document data sources, methodologies, assumptions, and limitations to standards acceptable for government record and audit.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, computer science, engineering, economics, international affairs, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a data analyst, intelligence analyst, or research analyst role.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Power BI, DAX, Power Query (M), data modeling, and dashboard publication.
• Working proficiency in Python for data manipulation and analysis (pandas, requests, standard ETL libraries).
• Experience designing and operating ETL pipelines against multiple source types (APIs, flat files, SQL, web-scraped content).
• Strong written analytic communication; ability to produce concise products for senior audiences.
• Active DOE Q or DoD Top Secret clearance at time of hire.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Local residence in the DC-MD-VA area.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience supporting DOE, NNSA, DoD, IC, or Treasury customers on national security analytic missions.
• Subject matter familiarity with any of the following: nuclear industrial base, nuclear fuel cycle, critical and at-risk materials (including rare earths, tritium, HEU/LEU supply chains), CFIUS, export controls, emerging technology assessments (AI/ML, nuclear fuel cycle, quantum, biotech, advanced semiconductors, material characterization).
