The Logistician Technician provides mission-critical logistics support to U.S. Space Force operations, ensuring the timely availability, accountability, and sustainment of equipment and materials supporting satellite communications and ground systems. This role operates within a highly structured DoD environment and requires close coordination with government stakeholders, maintenance teams, and supply systems to maintain operational readiness.
Responsibilities
- Provide responsive, mission-focused logistics support aligned with Space Force operational requirements.
- Serve as the primary liaison between maintenance personnel, SBSS, and the PHQ Network Support Manager to ensure seamless coordination of logistics activities.
- Advise site leadership on all logistics matters, including supply status, depot-level maintenance (DLM), MICAP actions, and emergent operational requirements.
- Validate local availability of materials and initiate requisitions through SBSS and other DoD logistics systems as required.
- Prioritize material acquisition based on mission impact, operational urgency, and system readiness requirements.
- Coordinate and manage logistics support for depot-level maintenance, ensuring proper tracking and accountability of assets.
- Maintain and manage work center supply points, bench stock levels, CA/CRL accounts, and associated inventory controls.
- Process, track, and manage logistics transactions, including ordering, receiving, status monitoring, and MICAP follow-up actions.
- Serve as the focal point for supply listings, ensuring timely review, reconciliation, and response within established suspense timelines.
- Establish and maintain equipment accounts, including coordination with Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) and host base support agencies.
- Execute Transportation Management Office (TMO) functions, including packaging, handling, marking, and shipment of materials in accordance with DoD and Space Force directives.
- Support deployment and operational logistics requirements, including coordination of material shipments and personnel movement.
- Provide on-the-job training (OJT) and mentorship to junior personnel as required.
- Deliver integrated logistics system-supply (ILS-S) support across Space Force and DoD platforms, including certification processes and compliance requirements.
- Utilize and maintain proficiency in logistics and maintenance systems such as SBSS, BECO, ITEC, and PWCS.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable DoD, Space Force, and contract-specific logistics policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties and mission support tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Active Secret Security Clearance (required).
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in DoD logistics, supply chain management, or related field (Space Force or Air Force experience preferred).
- Working knowledge of DoD logistics systems, including SBSS and Integrated Logistics System-Supply (ILS-S).
- Experience with inventory management, stock control, and material handling procedures.
- Familiarity with Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) handling requirements for sensitive electronic equipment.
- Experience supporting military or government customers in an operational environment.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a mission-driven team environment.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
- Physical capability to perform job-related tasks, including:
- Lifting up to 50 lbs
- Climbing ladders and working on elevated platforms
- Extended periods of standing, bending, and reaching
- High school diploma or equivalent (associate or bachelor's degree preferred).
- Willingness to obtain and maintain additional government certifications as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience supporting U.S. Space Force or Air Force SATCOM operations.
- Familiarity with PMEL processes and equipment accountability.
- Experience with BECO, ITEC, and PWCS systems.
- Understanding of MICAP procedures and supply chain prioritization in contingency environments.
Additional Information:
- This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW). Union membership is required.
- This is a full-time, on-site position supporting Space Force operations in a controlled government environment.
