Job Description

Duties

  • Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations.
  • Establishes deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods and policies.
  • Determines skills, materials and equipment required to do the work.
  • Participates in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests.
  • Provides workload data, estimates, information on staffing needs, and recommendations of the scheduling of projected work.
  • Instructs subordinates on new procedures or methods and provides assistance on difficult or new problem areas.
  • Reviews work in progress or on completion.
  • Notes and investigates work related problems and independently implements corrective actions which could be taken without affecting work operations controlled by other supervisors.
  • Assures that equipment and materiel was available when needed.
  • Recommends and participates in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies.
  • Schedules and approves leave of subordinates.
  • Plans and establishes overall leave schedules.
  • Adjusts informal complaints through discussions with employees and union representatives.
  • Initiates proposals for disciplinary action where needed.
  • Maintains production reports and records.
  • Performs the nonsupervisory work of the function as needed.
  • Implements regulatory safety requirements and ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and followed pertinent safety precautions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Conditions of employment

  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an Excepted Service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Failure to complete management prescribed courses for full-time support personnel within the first year of employment or assignment, may be cause for reassignment or termination.
  • This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in the Missouri National Guard prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Placement or baseline physical are required for newly hired or appointed Wage Grade personnel who may be potentially exposed to health hazards in the work environment.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
  • May be required to successfully complete a supervisory probationary period.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
Qualifications

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidate must currently be assigned to a military unit in the Missouri Air/Army National Guard. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion).

Maximum Military Grade - CW4 (W-4)

Minimum Military Grade - 1SG (with date of rank on or before 30 July 2025)

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Must possess experience or training which demonstrates the ability to provide technical advice and assistance on difficult work operations; plan, schedule and direct work operations; evaluate work of subordinates; and maintain reports and records.

WS-09 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess specialized experience planning and organizing work assignments for armament repair function; experience reviewing work requirements and establishing priorities to meet deadlines; experience with various lines of work performed by armament repair function and other section involved; experience dealing with other people and gaining cooperation in achieving common goals; and experience involving devising new work methods and procedures or improvements in existing work practices.

Education

This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
