To attract and retain highly qualified candidates, selectees may be eligible for a recruitment incentive of up to 20% or, for eligible current federal employees, a relocation incentive of up to 15%. JOB SUMMARY

The Information Management Division's (IMD) Technology Innovation Section's (TIS) Services and Governance Team (SGT) acts as the governance function within TIS and is responsible for setting strategic direction in coordination with section leadership. Governance provides the framework for information technology (IT) projects and ensures work is completed in compliance with applicable policies. SGT also delivers broad-based IT hardware, software, and network services to all IMD locations and handles routine and complex requests impacting greater IMD IT, such as budget and information security for IMD mission systems.

The selected candidate will serve as an Information Security (INFOSEC) subject-matter-expert (SME), supporting the FBI's INFOSEC/information assurance program, and proactively implementing cybersecurity policies and best practices.

  • Must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance

MAJOR DUTIES

GS 12:
  • Advises on levels of confidentiality, integrity and availability and issues with establishing and preserving those levels.
  • Ensures system security requirements are addressed in all phases of the IS lifecycle.
  • Conducts Security Assessment and Authorization (SAA) activities on assigned ISs, including assessing the implementation of security controls, identifying vulnerabilities or weaknesses.
  • Mitigates INFOSEC risks to assigned systems in accordance with federal and FBI requirements and guidance.
  • Conducts or ensures the conduct of security awareness and rules of behavior training for users.

    In addition to the above

GS 13:
  • Investigates and reports cybersecurity incidents, takes action to protect affected ISs.
  • Recommends actions to correct or mitigate causes of incidents, and provides training or guidance to users involved in the incidents.

Specialized Experience (SE)

GS-12: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
  • Performed security assessments of information systems; identifying specific vulnerabilities and areas of risk.
  • Utilized approved tools to conduct vulnerability and compliance scanning of information systems
  • Assessed impact of changes to information systems on security posture
  • Collaborating with a variety of technology professionals to ensure the implementation of security plans, policies, and procedures.

In addition to the above

GS -13: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
  • Provided guidance and recommendations on the implementation of security requirements across all stages of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Investigated and reported cybersecurity incidents; taking corrective action to mitigate or resolve the initial cause.
