Position: Public Health Terminology / System Coding/Standards/SME
Location: Remote
Pay Rate: Target Salary 165K Salaried W2 with Benefits; PTO, Holiday Pay, 401k, etc.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident for this Government Contract.
Mindbank is looking for a Public Health Terminology / System Coding/Standards SME.
The Public Health Vocabulary SME designs, develops and implements solutions for software integration projects, coordinates applications across functions or between organizations. Ensures the integration of projects meet the requirements of the organization. Applies specific functional knowledge, working/general industry knowledge. Apply subject matter expertise to public health programs at the state, local, and federal levels. Interpret and implement new and existing standards and apply them to clinical, laboratory, and epidemiological settings. Work with development organizations to develop new standards. Assist with improving the quality of collected and produced data. This position is open to remote delivery anywhere within the U.S., to include the District of Columbia.
Public Health Vocabulary SME Responsibilities:
• Design and Implement Terminology Solutions: Develop and implement solutions for integrating public health coding systems and standards, such as LOINC, SNOMED, ICD-10, and FHIR, to ensure seamless data exchange and analysis across clinical, laboratory, and epidemiological settings.
• Provide Data Standards Strategy and Modernization Support: Offer expert guidance on data standards and vocabulary authoring procedures to support the modernization of terminology tooling at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), ensuring data quality and consistency.
• Map Laboratory Assays to Vocabulary Standards: Research and map complex scientific and laboratory assays to established vocabulary standards, enabling accurate data collection, analysis, and surveillance in public health settings.
• Collaborate with Development Organizations: Work with development organizations to create new standards and improve existing ones, staying up to date with emerging trends and technologies in public health informatics and surveillance.
• Analyze and Improve Data Quality: Apply advanced data science expertise to analyze and improve the quality of collected and produced data, promoting effective data collection, analysis, and surveillance in public health programs at the state, local, and federal levels.
Public Health Vocabulary SME Required Skills and Experience:
• 10+ years of experience as a public health terminologist
• Experience working with public health coding systems and standards, including Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC), Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine (SNOMED), International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10), USCDI+, FHIR or other Health Level 7 (HL7) messaging
• Knowledge of Vocabulary Authoring procedures
• Ability to provide data standards strategy and modernization support for terminology tooling at CDC
• Ability to research and understand complex scientific and laboratory and surveillance nomenclature
• Ability to map laboratory assays to vocabulary standards
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
• B.A. or BS
Public Health Vocabulary SME Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Experience in a state, local, or federal public health environment
• Experience with implementing public health standards to health or laboratory systems
• Experience with data management and analysis using tools, including Excel, SQL, SAS, R, or Python
• Experience with PHINVADS
• Knowledge of infectious disease surveillance and informatics
• Ability to apply advanced data science expertise to promote data collection and analysis
• MA or MS degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or health informatics
