Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning and conducting enforcement of federal, state, and local fish and wildlife regulations; performing law enforcement work to include: enforcing traffic laws, issuing traffic tickets, questioning, or apprehending violators of federal or local laws; and enforcing state and local laws with arrest or apprehension authority. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Additional information
- Participate in planning, coordinating, and conducting the enforcement program of Federal, State, and installation fish and wildlife regulations.
- Conduct investigations into violations of Federal fish, wildlife and environmental laws.
- Ensure physical security measures are in effect in remote areas of the installation for the protection of Government property, endangered or threatened species, and cultural / archeological protected / sensitive sites.
- Coordinate with local Natural Resources office to ensure that Conservation Law Enforcement activities are fully integrated within the Installation Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP) and Installation Cultural Resources Management Plan (ICRMP)
- Supervise subordinate civilian and military police personnel.
- Assign work to subordinates, establish performance standards and evaluate completed work.
Conditions of employment
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.

- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position requires rotating work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- Meet and maintain requirements of Individual Reliability Program (IRP) IAW AR 190-56.
- Pass annual physical agility test requirements.
- Be certified to use police weapons, equipment, cameras, crime scene evidence collecting equipment, and automated police information retrieval systems.
- Be able to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other associated equipment.
- Incumbent is subject to a medical clearance examination prior to employment.
- Successfully graduate from DA Police Academy or have received equivalent academic credit.
- Be qualified and certified in the use of all assigned weapons and police related equipment which may include chemical aerosol irritants and LESD.
- State certification, if required, for radar and breathalyzer operations.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.
- A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
