The Material Coordinator will provide services and support to the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center contract located at Edwards AFB, California. The Material Coordinator will perform duties primarily associated with SCA Labor Category Material Coordinator from the SCA Directory of Occupations 5 th edition .

Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Be assigned to one or more work areas to support contract Logistics Services consisting of:
- Supply and Materials Management
- Equipment Management
- Property Disposal
- Transportation Management (including shipping and fleet management)
- Mail Management
- Perform duties found within the Performance Work Statement (PWS) Section 5, Equipment Management, Section 6, Property Disposal Management, and may support section 8, Mail Management in accordance with NASA Instructions and Technical Directives
- Provide logistics support for the identification, control, and accountability of equipment acquired by NASA in accordance with NASA policy
- Assist with Property Disposal Management and Reutilization of Excess and Surplus Property
- May provide mail services (i.e., receipt, storage, and distribution) for the AFRC community to include United States Postal Service (USPS) mail, express/certified/registered/priority and small packages, AFRC internal mail, and pouch mail
- If trained and required to support mail duties, will be required to obtain and retain a Secret clearance.
- Be familiar with NASA publications, forms, and regulations listed in the PWS and how all work activities are performed in accordance with those references.
- Utilize NASA provided computer equipment and software/databases to perform required job duties
- Provide a continuous audit trail of an item from its initial receipt by NASA until acceptance in DISPOSAL System in accordance with NPR 4200.1. Equipment Management Procedural Requirements
- Perform inventory services for materials and property to include issuing, handling, storing, and maintaining accountability of property and ensure timely correction of discrepancies
- Develop methods and improve procedures for storying property, plan use of storage facilities, and assist in the performance of Administrative and Industrial Customer Support and Equipment Control requirements
- Expedite the flow of material, parts, and property in accordance with NASA priorities
- Review supply and equipment requests for accuracy and assist in resolving all discrepancies
- Using a computer, work to ensure any accountable items have been cataloged properly
- Assist in the maintenance of accountability records in systems of record
- Create new catalog records using data provided
- Assist in the performance of equipment account inventories as required
- Process transfers and other transactions with supporting documentation
- Process corrections/adjustments to equipment accounts, attaching the documents in the transaction records
- Assist in the performance of Material Handling requirements
- Sign for property received and ensure accountable property is cataloged according to NASA procedures
- Assist in processing item turn-ins including processing turn-in transactions
- Prepare property for shipment, arrange inspection from representatives, and move property to specified areas
- Assist in the delivery of property received to the correct work center, or customer, and obtain signed receipt documentation
- Assist in the performance of office moves / movement of furniture and equipment
- Assist with documentation and accountability over all vehicles assigned
- Understand and work towards all timeliness and quality standards found in the Performance Requirements Summary for work area assigned
- Compile report of quantity and type of work accomplished
- Move or transport material from one department to another, using hand or industrial truck
- May compile perpetual production records in order to locate material using manual or computerized system
- Direct materiel management activities involved in developing, operating, implementing, and analyzing manual and automated integrated logistics systems
- May be tasked, trained, and perform duties as a non-CDL Truck Driver or Material Handling Equipment operator, including operating: Medium Trucks, Forklifts, and Specialty Material Handling Equipment
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to safely lift to 50 lbs.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and via email
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position including being on your feet most of the day and lifting requirements
- Ability to be trained in the use of warehouse tools and manual material handling equipment
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be able to pass NASA forklift training and certification and pass NASA physical to receive forklift license
- Must be able to clearly read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
- Ability to pass a background check including a clean driving record
- Pass pre-employment drug screening
- Ability to obtain and retain a SECRET clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in using computers as part of a military or civilian retail / store / warehouse environment.
- Previous experience working in a warehouse or other industrial environment and/or experience with driving trucks and/or other non-CDL required vehicles
- High school diploma or equivalent
