Job Description

Duties

  • Communicate mobilization and transportation plans across all levels of command and with external agencies to ensure unified efforts.
  • Provide expert oversight of ocean cargo transportation systems to ensure effective and compliant manifest processing.
  • Serve as the senior readiness expert, analyzing and reporting on command metrics.
  • Advise on personnel mobilization strategies by conducting mission analyses and formulating unit augmentation plans.
  • Monitor the command's strategic deployment budget, to include forecasting, execution, and analysis.
  • Direct command mobilization planning and Global Force Management (GFM) by developing and coordinating contingency plans.

  • This position may require the incumbent to work nonstandard duty hours.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, upon entering the position and annually, in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R, Joint Ethics Regulation, dated 17-Nov-2011.
  • This position is designated as Key.
  • In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes: assisting in the development of mobilization plans by tracking readiness metrics for command review; monitoring transportation systems to ensure the efficient processing of ocean cargo manifests in accordance with regulatory requirements; and gathering data to support mission analyses for determining personnel mobilization strategies.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
