Job Summary
This role supports the Department of War’s financial improvement and audit readiness efforts.
The focus is on Procure-to-Pay processes, internal controls, and audit remediation.
The consultant coordinates audit walkthroughs, testing, and requests across multiple stakeholder groups.
The role is client-facing and requires clear communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Support Financial Improvement and Audit Remediation efforts across the Department of War
Assist with Procure-to-Pay process reviews, walkthroughs, and documentation
Coordinate audit walkthroughs, sample testing, and evidence requests
Work with finance, acquisition, logistics, systems, and operational stakeholders
Track audit findings and support remediation activities
Help design, assess, and implement internal controls
Support remediation of audit findings and process gaps
Prepare materials for client briefings and leadership discussions
Clearly communicate accounting, audit, and remediation issues
Manage multiple priorities while supporting project milestones
Required Qualifications
Active DoD Secret clearance
Experience supporting the Department of War in financial management or contracting roles
Experience with FIAR, comptroller, resource advisor, or contracting office functions
Exposure to Procure-to-Pay processes
Experience with audit readiness or audit remediation efforts
Experience designing, assessing, or implementing internal controls
Experience coordinating audit activities across cross-functional teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience working in a client-facing consulting environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience performing financial statement audits
Experience working within internal accounting departments
Compensation:
$45/hr to $58/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
