JRAD is seeking a highly experienced Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Subject Matter Expert to provide senior‑level expertise, policy analysis, and strategic support across the National, DoD, Joint, and Service levels. The SME will coordinate extensively with DoD and non‑DoD organizations whose missions directly or indirectly influence IAMD policy, operations, and capability development. This role requires deep understanding of the IAMD enterprise, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to advise senior Air Force leaders on complex operational and policy matters.

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Assess current and emerging IAMD systems, capabilities, and concepts across the USAF, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, and coalition partners, identifying implications for Air Force roles and missions.

  • Support AF/A3OY in drafting, refining, and analyzing IAMD policy positions, strategies, and operational guidance.

  • Contribute to DoD and USAF international engagement strategies by evaluating the performance, integration, and interoperability of Air Force IAMD contributions.

  • Provide senior‑level recommendations on how the Air Force should organize, train, and equip to meet IAMD mission requirements, including policy, strategy, and force development considerations.

  • Support the management of IAMD Program Elements (PEs), including coordination of PE transfers from developers (e.g., MDA) to the Air Force and ensuring alignment with Air Force planning and programming priorities.

  • Engage with interagency, Joint, and Service stakeholders to ensure Air Force equities are represented in IAMD‑related forums, working groups, and decision processes.

  • Prepare high‑quality written products-briefings, white papers, decision papers, testimony, and strategic communications-for senior Government audiences.

  • Lead and facilitate meetings, working groups, and technical discussions involving diverse IAMD experts across the DoD enterprise.

  • Analyze IAMD exercises, studies, and modeling and simulation outputs to assess operational impacts and inform policy or capability recommendations.

  • Support technology transition activities, including processes related to the interagency transfer of Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) system elements and the maturation of developmental capabilities into operational use.

  • Develop, track, and coordinate staff packages across a wide range of IAMD‑related topics, ensuring compliance with Air Force formats, routing requirements, and coordination timelines.

Required Skills and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience; or Associate's degree with 11+ years of experience; or High School diploma with 14+ years of experience.

  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in IAMD strategy, policy, doctrine, technologies, and operational challenges at the National, DoD, Joint, and Service levels.

  • Proven experience analyzing IAMD exercises, studies, and modeling/simulation outputs to assess operational implications

  • Strong ability to generate senior‑level written products, including briefings, white papers, decision papers, testimony, and strategic communications.

  • Experience preparing senior Government officials for public speaking engagements and high‑visibility events.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, lead, and facilitate meetings involving diverse technical and policy stakeholders

  • Working knowledge of the SPPBE process and associated programming databases

  • Experience supporting technology transition activities and understanding interagency processes affecting BMD system element transfers.
