The Opportunity
NineFX is seeking a highly experienced Software Engineer Level 3 to design, develop, enhance, and maintain complex software systems in a mission critical environment. This role requires extensive experience in software development, large scale data processing, algorithm design, system integration, Kubernetes operations, and secure development practices. The candidate will contribute both independently and as part of multiple development teams.
What You’ll Do
Key Responsibilities
Software Development & Engineering
• Design, code, and modify software; develop high‑performance algorithms; integrate applications into diverse environments
• Build and maintain complex data interfaces; execute queries for system and repository access
• Analyze system performance and user needs to develop technical solutions and improve development standards
• Modify, enhance, and integrate existing software; ensure compatibility with new hardware and system environments
• Coordinate software installation and monitor system operation to meet performance requirements
Documentation, Testing & Quality
• Write, review, and maintain technical documentation
• Develop and execute software test procedures; document results
• Resolve software defects and implement corrective actions
• Perform quality control reviews and recommend process improvements
Collaboration & Leadership
• Collaborate with engineers, management, and customers; deliver clear technical presentations
• Serve as team or technical lead, overseeing software development tasks and guiding project processes
• Delegate programming and testing responsibilities and monitor team performance
Required Government Capabilities
• Analyze user requirements and derive software design and performance specifications
• Debug existing software and correct defects
• Develop queries for new or existing databases and data repositories
• Lead software development activities aligned with the development methodology in use
• Recommend new technologies, processes, and engineering standards
• Support system‑level design, including hardware/software tradeoffs and reuse strategies (COTS/GOTS)
• Design, develop, test, and integrate software individually or as part of a team
• Coordinate with system and hardware engineers to meet performance and interface requirements
What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications
• Twenty (20) years of experience as a Software Engineer supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
• OR four (4) additional years of SWE experience may be substituted for the degree
Required Certifications
(One of the following)
• CompTIA Security+ CE
• CCNA Security
• CySA+
• GICSP
• GSEC
• CND
• SSCP
Technical Skills Required
• Hands on experience operating or platform engineering production grade Kubernetes clusters
• Strong understanding of containerization concepts and pod security standards
• Working knowledge of PKI certificates and PKI lifecycle management
• Experience with GitOps workflows and CI/CD pipelines
• Basic Linux administration
• Experience with Python and Bash scripting
• Experience using Jira and Confluence for tasking and documentation
