JOB SUMMARY: The NASA SES III contract provides ETD IT services for engineering facilities and labs. These tasks include maintaining the system and infrastructure security, documentation of the infrastructure and the support of projects as requested. This task includes maintaining, developing, and documenting software required for environmental testing, data analysis, and visualization as needed.

The areas that will be supported include but are not limited to: Center Network Environment (CNE) support, Special Management Attention (SMA) flight project support, Spacecraft Testing Complex (STC) and Advanced Manufacturing Group (AMG) support. Location: This position is located at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. This position is primarily on-site with some telework allowed.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Support I&T CNE user systems that are used for operations managed by Code 527 I&T by ensuring their systems are in operational condition, through helpdesk, desk side, or remote support.
  • Install, support, and maintain software and hardware as required to enable users to perform their jobs. Coordinating with the various GSFC and NASA IT organizations to resolve operational issues that prevent the users from accessing their data.
  • Provide support with physical infrastructure installation, including fiber optic cable installation, cable laying, and horizontal cabling systems.
  • Provide and support infrastructure as requested by the Space Testing Complex (STC) function manager, supervisor, or government environmental test engineer such as firewall rules, switches, cabling, etc.
  • Perform network administration responsibilities to include troubleshooting CNE networking issues, managing the DDI agency DNS server, and administering network security groups for both the NDC agency and all STC security groups.
  • Support the Special Management Attention (SMA) flight projects by maintaining the STC, the System Security Plan (SSP) and Authority to Operate (ATO) and providing the infrastructure necessary to support each flight project such as firewall rules, switches, security cameras, etc.
  • Manage Windows updates and patch management for both the NDC network and the STC isolated network ensuring security compliance while minimizing disruption to operational project work.


REQUIREMENTS:
  • Demonstrate Tier II, Tier III, and senior-level troubleshooting capabilities across both hardware and software environments. This includes advanced diagnostic skills for computer hardware, server hardware, and networking hardware components, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues at escalating support levels.
  • Extensive experience with Cisco switched network environments, including the ability to configure VLANs, manage switch configurations, and implement network segmentation strategies.
  • Proficient in managing Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2022, and Windows Server 2025 environments. This includes managing Active Directory environments in both NDC and STC locations, where the STC maintains its own Domain Controllers, DNS server, and WSUS server infrastructure.
  • CompTIA A+ and Network+ for foundational hardware and networking knowledge.


RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: 12 years of system administration, systems engineering, ISSO, or software development experience .

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: BS degree or equivalent experience, in computer sciences, engineering or mathematics.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: US Citizenship is required. Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
