Secret Network Engineer
Location: Joint Base Andrews
Shifts/Schedule: Mon-Fri Day shift; potential for on-call
Contract/Perm: long term with IG
Pay Rate: $45-55/hour
Day-To-Day:
An employer is looking for a Network Engineer to sit at Joint Base Andrews. This candidate will support NIPR and SIPR network operations by monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with senior stakeholders and other support teams during outages. The role includes configuring and maintaining Cisco network infrastructure (routing, switching, wireless, DNAC, and ISE), managing TACLANE devices across classified and unclassified environments, and ensuring compliance through DISA STIGs, patching, and IOS-XE upgrades. This role will require someone to maintain network documentation, support day-to-day operations and special projects, process Authorized Service Interruptions, and participate in an on-call rotation supporting the company operations.
Must Haves
• Active Secret clearance
• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related network experience (or additional experience in lieu of degree)
• 5+ years of hands-on network administration or engineering experience
• Current DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ or approved DCWF equivalent)
• Experience supporting DoD or defense contractor network environments
• Strong Cisco networking experience (routing, switching, and wireless)
• Hands-on experience with Cisco ISE, including 802.1X wired and wireless troubleshooting
• Experience configuring and supporting HAIPE/TACLANE devices (e.g., KG-175 series)
• Knowledge of routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF
• Experience applying DISA STIGs and maintaining compliance on network devices
• Ability to work full-time onsite with limited ad-hoc telework
Plusses
• Experience with IPv6 configuration and addressing
• Additional security certifications (CISSP, advanced Security+)
• Experience with next-generation firewalls (Cisco Firepower, Palo Alto)
• Python or Ansible experience for network automation
• Familiarity with Cisco SD-WAN, ACI, or Unified Communications (CUCM)
• Experience supporting air-gapped or classified environments (SIPRNet)
• Prior work supporting AFNCR, Air Force, Pentagon, JBA, JBAB, or Joint Base Andrews environments
