Shift work, weekend duty, and weekend stand-by duty may be required. Incumbent must be available for work within three- hour recall in emergency situations and must be available to travel in CONUS within 24 hours and OCONUS within 72 hours of notice.
This position is designated as a key position. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations. Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.

As a Operations Support Specialist at the GS-0301-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Monitors USTRANSCOM movement requirements and transportation allocation process
- Coordinates with USTRANSCOM Combatant Command Branches to understand operational context of forces deploying into theater
- Provides updates to the Chief of Current Operations and Deployment and Distribution Operation Center regarding forces deploying on all modes of transportation
- Attends various meetings with the Joint Staff and Combatant Commands regarding strategic and operational planning requirements.
- Provides updates to the USTRANSCOM Common Operational Picture to provide situational awareness for the Command's senior leaders
