Overview
Insight Global is seeking a Senior Hardware / Software Installation Technician (Survey Team Lead) to support the U.S. Army Comprehensive Modernization (COMPMOD) program. This program delivers end-to-end EFIS&T services, including survey and design through installation, security, and testing.
Work spans NIPR and SIPR networks, Wi‑Fi, VoIP, ISP/OSP infrastructure, and voice modernization across CONUS Army installations.
In this role, you will serve as the on-site technical lead conducting site surveys, evaluating infrastructure readiness, documenting requirements for network and system upgrades, and overseeing hardware and software installations. You will collaborate closely with the Program Management Office (PMO), Project Managers, and Government Points of Contact (POCs), while mentoring junior technicians.

Responsibilities
Site Survey Leadership & Engineering

Lead physical site surveys at military installations (CONUS and OCONUS)
Validate power, space, cooling (HVAC), and connectivity requirements
Analyze existing infrastructure (fiber/copper cabling, patch panels, conduit)
Identify upgrade and remediation requirements
Develop Site Survey Reports (SSRs) and Installation Design Plans (IDPs)
Create floor plans, rack elevation diagrams, and power calculations
Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support procurement and logistics

Hardware & Software Operations

Install, configure, and troubleshoot IT hardware (routers, switches, crypto devices, UPS)
Load and configure Windows and Linux operating systems
Apply DoD system baselines and STIGs
Perform burn‑in testing and system validation
Troubleshoot complex hardware/software interoperability issues
Coordinate with backend engineering teams for issue resolution

Project Coordination & Documentation

Serve as the primary technical liaison with site customers
Interface directly with PMO, Project Managers, and Government POCs
Create and maintain engineering drawings using Visio or AutoCAD
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and installation access procedures
Provide After Action Reports (AARs) and daily status updates during travel
Ensure personnel maintain required training and certifications


Required Experience & Qualifications

BA/BS Degree
5+ years of relevant experience (hardware/software integration, structured cabling, or DoD/Federal site surveys)
Experience operating in DoD or Federal Government environments
Ability to commute daily to assigned work location when not traveling


Security Clearance & Travel Requirements

Active Secret clearance (Top Secret preferred)
50–75% travel, including multi‑week TDY assignments
Availability during defined cutover windows (nights/weekends as required)


Preferred Qualifications

U.S. Army Signal Brigade, DISA, or DoDIN modernization experience
CAD experience supporting IT infrastructure
BICSI Technician or RCDD certification


Physical Demands

Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs
Ability to work in confined spaces (server rooms, closets, raised floors)
