Job Description

Duties

As a SUPERVISORY HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (MILITARY), GS-0201-12, you will plan and schedule work in a manner that promotes a smooth flow and even distribution, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules. Serve as primary advisor to all levels of management that apply to all military personnel management. Establish programs, develop methods to achieve objectives, analyze the needs of service members for educational programs, oversee the implementation and operation of the incentives program, and serve as the State test control officer. Coordinate, convene, and/or participate in one or more of the following boards: Selective Retention, Qualitative Retention, Active Service Management Board, Officer Assignment, Officer Career Management, Select Train Educate and Promote (S.T.E.P), Standby Advisory Board, and Awards Boards. Work under the direct supervision of the G1 who establishes broad program objectives. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • This position requires a security clearance of (Secret). The applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in the qualifications section of this announcement.

Qualifications

Military Grades: O-3 through O-4, or CW2 through CW4

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience in administrative positions that manage, supervise, administer, advise on, or deliver human resources management products or services.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must have 36 months or 1-year equivalent to at least the next lower grade of GS-11 of specialized experience as a program manager, advisor and consultant with the ability to provide education or services in the areas of incentives, career management, and self-development in support of National Guard Soldiers; experience in managing the function of the work to be performed as applicable to the specific position and its position description such as, experience in performing personnel program requirements that involve advising supervisors and managers, skill in applying program directives, policies, and the ability to create and achieve training objectives; experience in developing processes and ensuring timeframes are met; experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
