Duties
This position is located in the JFHQ-State Human Resources Office (HRO). The primary purpose of the position is to provide limited technical assistance to Human Resources Specialists servicing both Army (ARNG) and Air National Guard (ANG) organizations and the full-time workforce within the state. Uses automated system to effectively process personnel actions in accordance with the Guide to Processing Personnel Actions and local personnel systems checklists as required. This position performs work of at least 25% in one, but no more than three, of the specialties below which must total 100%.
Work in this series includes clerical and administrative support positions performing clerical, assistant, or technical work which requires knowledge of the procedures, established guidelines, and techniques involved in carrying out the work of the organization.

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO THE FOLLOWING AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC):
Area of Consideration: This position is open to Areas 1 Only.
Area 1: Current employees of the South Carolina Army National Guard (Tenure 1 and 2)
Area 2: Current members of the South Carolina Army National Guard
Area 3: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Army National Guard
*Temporary and Indefinite employees do not meet permanent tenure requirements and are not eligible for Area 1.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position with experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : Must have at least one-year specialized experience, education or training that provided knowledge of general office work which may include but is not limited to: answering telephones, receiving and distributing mail and maintaining records. Experience following oral or written instructions to accomplish work. Experience establishing and retrieving files and information. Experience using common computer software designed for word processing.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES:
1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance designated at the State through the use of the Position Designation Tool.
2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
3. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
4. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
5. May require travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
6. This is a National Guard dual status technician position which requires military membership.
Education
Substitution of Education for specialized experience - Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement for two-grade interval positions in a course of study that directly reflects the job-related KSAs/competencies necessary to satisfy the minimum qualifications and perform the duties of the position, or, 1 academic year of graduate education (or law school, as specified in qualification standards or individual occupational requirements) in a course of study that directly reflects the job-related KSAs/competencies necessary to satisfy the minimum qualifications and perform the duties of the position.

- NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is a Title 32 Technician Vacancy that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the closing date of the job vacancy.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
