Job Description
Akima Mission Optimization (AMO) is hiring a Continuity and Emergency Management Specialist to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Professional & Operational Support Services Contract in Dahlgren, VA. The Continuity and Emergency Management Specialist supports the development, implementation, and sustainment of organizational resilience programs designed to ensure mission continuity during emergencies, disruptions, and disasters. The role assists in planning, coordinating, and executing continuity strategies that protect personnel, facilities, and mission-critical operations.

Responsibilities
- Support development and maintenance of continuity planning documentation.
- Assist with documentation of Mission Essential Functions (MEFs).
- Assist with Business Process Analyses (BPA), Business Impact Analyses (BIA), and operational risk assessments.
- Coordinate continuity planning with internal departments and leadership.
- Support development of emergency response plans, procedures and disaster recovery strategies.
- Assist in planning and conducting continuity exercises and preparedness drills.
- Track corrective actions resulting from exercises or real-world incidents.
- Maintain continuity documentation, emergency contacts, and essential personnel rosters.
- Assist with incident response coordination when required.
- Support emergency operations center coordination during incidents.
- Support development and sustainment of programs aligned with Federal Continuity Directives.
- Support continuity and preparedness exercises including tabletop exercises.
- Document exercise results and assist with After Action Reports (AARs).
- Maintain orders of succession, delegations of authority, and continuity documentation.
Qualifications
- You must possess an active Interim Secret clearance (with ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance).
- High school diploma and 3-5 years of experience supporting continuity planning or emergency management programs.
- Experience supporting federal agencies or government contractors.
- Knowledge of FEMA NIMS, ICS, continuity guidance, and emergency management frameworks.
- Experience supporting risk assessments or business impact analyses.
- Strong written communication and organizational skills.
- Experience supporting continuity planning documentation and preparedness exercises.
Desired Qualifications and/or Certifications
- Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP).
- Certified Emergency Manager (CEM).
- FEMA Professional Development Series or ICS/NIMS training.
- Experience working in or supporting Emergency Operations Centers (EOC).
