The Bike Shop Team provides engineering design & development services to a wide range of products within Raytheon. This role is focused on operating, maintaining, and supporting a range of fabrication and prototyping equipment, with a strong emphasis on desktop-grade and industrial 3D printing and post-processing. The position includes preparing and finishing printed parts through tasks such as support removal, washing, UV curing, sanding, buffing, painting, and installing inserts, while also performing basic CAD modifications to improve printability using Creo Parametric. The job also involves managing materials and inventory, maintaining work queues, meeting customer deadlines and quality expectations, and educating employees on additive manufacturing options, materials, and design strategies. In addition, the role may include teaching introductory additive manufacturing classes, collaborating across multiple printer groups to improve efficiency and part quality, and supporting composite fabrication through trimming, assembly, finishing, equipment maintenance, and use of sealants, adhesives, and RTV compounds.

What You Will Do
  • Operate and maintain a Desktop and Industrial grade 3D printers, as well as occasionally operating a laser cutter, mini-CNC Milling (PCB's and Engraving)
  • Post-Process 3D-printed parts (remove supporting material, wash and UV cure as required, sand, buff, paint, install inserts, bonding assemblies etc.)
  • Perform basic Computer Aided Design (CAD) manipulation of existing designs for printability
  • Manage a work queue, ensure that customers' needs are met in terms of date, quality, and final product
  • Educate employees on options regarding 3D printing
  • Review CAD models, drawings and instructions, and fabricate composite parts, including trimming, assembling, and finishing.
  • Record and report all labor hours, fabrication operations, and metrics, manage material procurement and inventory


Qualifications you Must Have
  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working with delicate parts including sanding, painting, installing threaded inserts or heat- set inserts.
  • Experience with model-making, painting, detailing, labeling, etc.
  • Experience with and knowledge of CAD and 3D modeling software to modify parts and prepare for printing.
  • Experience working with electronics (wires, cabling and circuit boards) and mechanical hardware for the purposes of repairing machines.


Qualifications We Prefer
  • 2+ years' experience with Desktop-Grade 3D printers or 1+ year experience with Industrial grade 3D printers.
  • Hands on experience processing 3D printed parts from various machines, including material extrusion, vat photopolymerization, laser powder bed fusion, and material jetting, understanding different mediums and options, including design recommendations depending on the platform and material.
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD and 3D modeling software to modify parts, prepare them for printing, create molds, and recommend design changes.
  • Extensive experience repairing, building and/or maintaining 3D printers.

The salary range for this role is 53,100 USD - 100,900 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
