Job Description
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is looking for our next Data Architect II !!!!
As a Data Architect II on the NISSC 3 program, you will design, implement, and maintain the data architecture that underpins mission-critical technical baselines and artifacts. You'll ensure data integrity, availability, and reliability while defining and enforcing data management standards and practices.
You will develop data management plans and processes (acquisition, validation, storage, lineage, and protection), collaborate with systems engineering, cybersecurity, and configuration management teams, and support audit readiness and continuous improvement of data management practices. You will also work in close coordination with the Emergency/Urgent Depot Level Maintenance (EDLM/UDLM) Manager.
Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and maintain data architectures that support mission-critical technical baselines and artifacts.
• Develop and maintain data management plans and processes, including data acquisition, validation, storage, and retention.
• Document data lineage and enforce data protection protocols to ensure integrity, confidentiality, and availability.
• Collaborate with systems engineering, cybersecurity, and configuration management teams to ensure proper systems integration and data flow.
• Help establish and maintain naming conventions, metadata structures, taxonomies, and access control policies.
• Implement and refine database backup and recovery strategies; support continuity of operations and disaster recovery planning.
• Monitor database performance and conduct tuning, optimization, and capacity planning.
• Manage and audit user accounts, roles, and permissions in accordance with security policies and least-privilege principles.
• Analyze logs, support incident response activities related to data and database security, and contribute to root-cause analysis.
• Support audit readiness and inspections by ensuring data management practices, documentation, and records are complete and accurate.
• Drive continuous improvement of data management and data architecture practices, including automation and scripting where appropriate.
• Coordinate with the EDLM/UDLM Manager to ensure data associated with urgent and emergency depot-level maintenance is properly captured and integrated into the data architecture.
Qualifications
• 4-6 years of experience in database administration and/or data architecture supporting large-scale, mission-critical systems.
• Hands-on experience with database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and database security.
• Experience with log analysis, user account and role management, and participation in incident response activities.
• Proficiency with one or more major DBMS platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.) and related scripting/automation tools.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
• Bachelor's degree in: Information Technology (IT) / Cybersecurity / Computer Science (CS) / Information Systems (IS) / Data Science / Software Engineering OR equivalent DoD/Military training and experience in database administration, data architecture, or closely related field.
• Active Secret clearance at time of hire. Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI.
• One or more of the following: Cloud+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ (CE), or SSCP.
