Mid-Level Systems Engineer Location: Tysons, VA
Clearance: TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph
Rate: $120K-$130K PA
The Mid-Level Systems Engineer is responsible for applications infrastructure across enterprise networks and provides technical support to ensure application security compliance. This role
supports system design, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance activities and participates in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
The engineer collaborates with development teams and operations staff to maintain high availability, performance, and security of enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities
System Design & Implementation
● Design, install, configure, and test operating systems
● Implement application software and system management tools
● Support infrastructure deployments
Monitoring & Maintenance
● Monitor system performance and availability
● Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions
● Maintain high availability environments
Security & Redundancy
● Implement security controls and compliance measures
● Maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions
● Ensure system redundancy
Automation & Scripting
● Develop scripts to automate operational tasks
● Improve system efficiency through automation
Troubleshooting
● Diagnose hardware, software, and network issues
● Resolve complex technical problems
Collaboration
● Work with developers and stakeholders
● Support infrastructure requirements for applications
Documentation
● Maintain architecture documentation
● Create operational procedures and runbooks
Technology Evaluation
● Research emerging technologies
● Recommend upgrades and enhancements
Required Skills:
● Experience: 2+ years of experience in system engineering, testing, or DevOps roles.
● CI/CD Knowledge: Proven experience configuring CI/CD pipelines and automated testing tools.
● Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of Linux/Unix, version control (Git), and scripting languages (Python, Bash, or similar).
● Methodology: Familiarity with Agile development practices.
● Education: Bachelor's degree in STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
